American Women's Services of Erie Abortion Facility

DEMONSTRATION TODAY

People for Life will facilitate a public demonstration today, Wednesday, March 5, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in opposition to the opening of the "American Women's Services of Erie" abortion facility. The demonstration will take place at the1611 Peach Street Professional Building, where the abortion facility is located. Participants will gather on the State Street side of the building. Well over 350 demonstrations have taken place at this location since October 1999.

American Women's Services is a fictitious name, registered in Pennsylvania to a non-profit corporation, Associates in Obstetrics and Gynecology, of which Steven C. Brigham, MD is listed as the secretary, treasurer, and chief executive officer.

TRANSFER AGREEMENT

Letters were sent on Monday to the CEOs of the four Erie area hospitals that provide emergency room services. The letters urged the CEOs to follow the example of the five hospitals in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

In 1999 and 2000, Planned Parenthood of the Susquehanna Valley petitioned the five hospitals for transfer agreements in an effort to qualify for state approval to carry out abortions. All five hospitals refused, effectively blocking Planned Parenthood's plans.
