Demonstrations This Week

There will be demonstrations this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1611 Peach Street, Erie, where Dr. Steven C. Brigham wants to open an abortion facility.

The demonstrators on Wednesday will be mainly teenagers from St. Peter Cathedral who are spending this week doing community service projects. They will be joined by teenagers from several other local churches, by parents and other church members, and by volunteers from People for Life. People for Life will provide signs and other equipment for use during the demonstration, which will run from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

Community service usually means doing things which earn universal thanks and admiration. These young people, however, will be acting on the notion that serving the community can also mean taking less-than-fashionable public stands against things that are really wrong, even if a certain amount of criticism and rejection must be endured along the way.

Just prior to their demonstration, the teenagers will hear a talk on abortion by a 25 year old member of People for Life who just returned from the National Right to Life Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he spent three days in workshops for high school and college pro-life activists, leaders, and organizers. There will also be demonstrations this week on Thursday, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Saturday, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
