Demonstration Today

A demonstration of community opposition to abortion and to the opening of an abortion facility in Erie will take place this afternoon, Saturday, January 20, 2001, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The demonstration will take place at 1611 Peach St., Erie, the location of the pending abortion facility.

This will be the last local pro-life activity before area activists head to Washington, DC for the March for Life on January 22, the 28th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

People for Life president Tim Broderick commented, "Roe v. Wade ushered in the era of abortion on demand in the United States and initiated the rise of the assembly line Abortion Mill, a lucrative, quasi-medical facility dedicated primarily, and often exclusively, to the destruction of unborn children."

"Advertisements for the abortion facility that is trying to open in Erie invite women to surrender their growing, kicking, baby boys and girls up to and including the 24th week of life.

"This would not be happening were it not for the personal prejudices of seven aged Supreme Court Justices - who claimed not to know when, or even IF, human life begins in the womb. Their embarrassing Roe v. Wade decision summarily dismissed the will of the American people, who had maintained nearly complete legal protection for unborn children since the mid 1800's, when modern medicine revealed - beyond any shadow of a doubt - the humanity of the unborn child."
