Abortionist Asks State Approval for Erie Abortion Facility

People for Life will conduct another demonstration opposing the opening of an abortion facility in Erie on Wednesday, April 19, 2000 from Noon to 1:00 PM at the Professional Building, 1611 Peach St., Erie. Dr. Steven Chase Brigham has now requested state permission to begin carrying out abortions at this location.

Passing motorists and pedestrians will be given an opportunity to sign the Statement of Opposition to the abortion facility, weather permitting, and "NO ABORTION MILL !" bumper stickers will be distributed.

People for Life heartily commends northwestern Pennsylvania for its vigorous opposition, over the last six months, to the opening of this abortion facility. Now that the state has confirmed receipt of Brigham's request to carry out abortions, People for Life is calling upon northwestern Pennsylvania to redouble its efforts to make clear that we are a community which values the gift of life and cares about women and children. We, as a community, must now also demand that all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to this abortion facility be followed to the letter.

People for Life is asking area residents to demonstrate their concern - by signing the statement of opposition to the abortion facility; by displaying "NO ABORTION MILL!" bumper stickers; by participating in our public demonstrations, which take place two or more times each week; and by taking every additional opportunity to ensure that we never resort to killing our community's most vulnerable members in attempts to solve our problems.

Although the opening of this facility is by no means a certainty, People for Life will begin to prepare for that possibility by holding a sidewalk counseling training workshop on Saturday, May 27, 2000.

People for Life pledges to work closely, as this crisis continues, with all organizations in our community which value the gift of life. We strongly encourage our friends and neighbors to do the same.
