PRESS RELEASE

January 21, 2000

Tomorrow, January 22, 2000, pro-abortionists will hold a vigil in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, DC to celebrate their victory over the unborn child, a victory that was handed them by the U.S. Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade exactly 27 years ago. National Organization for Women President Patricia Ireland will lead the vigil which will be sponsored by the Washington, DC branch of the National Organization for Women.

Meanwhile, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM tomorrow, People for Life will hold an anti-abortion, anti- Roe v. Wade demonstration at the site of a proposed abortion facility, at 1611 Peach St. in Erie, Pennsylvania. Roe v. Wade is responsible for the loss of over 40,000,000 children in the United States since 1973. People for Life considers this loss of human lives to be a tragedy and nothing to celebrate. Legalized abortion is a national scandal. The legalized taking of innocent human lives repudiates the very concept of unalienable rights which forms the moral basis for self-government, individual liberty and democracy in America and elsewhere.

Erie area residents who think that human lives must be valued and protected and not arbitrarily disposed of as a matter of personal choice will have their say in Washington on Monday. Approximately 120 Erie area residents will represent our region at the 27th Annual March for Life. Marchers will gather Sunday night at 11:00 PM at the St. George Church Parking Lot on upper Peach St. to begin their trek to Washington. Three buses have been chartered.
