The 22nd annual PRO-LIFE PRAYER BREAKFAST, sponsored by People for Life, will take place this Saturday, January 15, 2000 at the Avalon Hotel in Erie. The breakfast will begin at 9:00 AM.

An article written by Dr. Romer on behalf of PHACT was published in the Wall Street Journal, September 19, 1996. Dr. Romer conducts a private practice in obstetrics and gynecology and also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wright State University School of Medicine. She has testified on partial-birth abortion before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, the Ohio General Assembly, and the American Medical Association. And she has provided expert testimony in defense of state laws banning partial-birth abortion in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Iowa.

Other confirmed breakfast program participants include Rev. Clyde Davis, Senior Pastor, Girard Alliance Church; Mr. Daniel Jepson, Erie Men of Integrity; Most Reverend Donald W. Trautman, Bishop of the Erie Catholic Diocese; and Fr. Frederick Bentley, Rector, St. James Anglican Catholic Church. Both Congressman Phil English and U.S. Senator Rick Santorum have appointed representatives to address the breakfast on their behalves . Vocalist Janene Minshull, a counselor at the Pregnancy Center of Meadville will sing and give her personal testimony, and the Wesley Lamplighters of Welsey United Methodist Church will present a puppet show especially for the children.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were about 550 paid breakfast reservations. Some tickets are still available. The GREATER ERIE MARCH & MOTORCADE FOR LIFE will also take place on Saturday, January 15. The route of the march has been lengthened this year to a mile and a half. The march will begin at Noon from 10th and State St., proceed south on State St. to 18th St., west to Peach St., north to 14th St. (thus partially encircling the site of Erie's impending abortion facility), east to State St., and north to Perry Square.

The march will conclude with a Memorial Service in Perry Square at the Gazebo. Rev. Al Detter, Senior Pastor, Grace Baptist Church will open and close the service with prayer. Fr. Larry Richards, Pastor, Bread of Life Community will share a message stressing the value of human lives. The Memorial Service remembers ALL victims of abortion, the babies, of course, but also the mothers and fathers and their families.

People for Life sponsors the Pro-Life Prayer Breakfast and the March & Motorcade for Life each January to mark the anniversary of the January 22, 1973 Roe v. Wade decision which struck down the laws in all 50 states that had formerly protected women from exploitation and unborn children from death.
