President George W. Bush

Commentary

While President Bush's praise for the "ideals" and "idealism" of the tens of thousands of Americans assembled that frigid winter afternoon in Washington, DC for the annual March for Life is understandable, let it not obscure the true character of their mission. The March for Life has less to do with lofty aspirations then it does with bare minimum standards of justice, decency, civility, and humanity. Ending the murder of the innocent and the exploitation of women is not simply a commendable idea. To abandon children in danger of losing their lives is to abandon a basic duty, not merely an ideal.
