Demonstration: Why should God bless America?

This afternoon there will be a response to the continued unjust attacks against innocent human beings in the United States of America. On most business days, approximately 4000 innocent Americans - babies, prior to birth - are attacked and destroyed in surgical operations or by the administration of deadly chemical agents.

Today's response will be in the form of a peaceful demonstration conducted on the public sidewalk along the State Street side of the 1611 Peach Street Professional Building, the site of Erie's pending abortion facility. It will begin at 4:30 this afternoon and continue until 6:00 PM.

Most demonstrations at the site of Erie's planned "abortion mill" have lasted only an hour. In view of current public reaction to the recent attacks by foreign terrorists on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we think that a longer demonstration is called for.

Americans are now invoking the words "God Bless America!" and apparently identifying with the selfless sacrifices of the police, fire, and EMT personnel in New York City and Washington, DC. Yet, we Americans can also be identified, inexorably identified, with over forty million "legal" abortions since 1973. And we are responsible for allowing the rise of infanticide, assisted suicide, and partial-birth abortion, deadly stem cell experiments on human embryos, and the use of aborted babies' body parts in scientific research, all of which have either been funded outright or aided and abetted by our government. It is time, not so much for arrogance or defiance, but for soul searching and humility - time to ask ourselves as a nation, "WHY SHOULD GOD BLESS AMERICA?"
