    Highly-acclaimed author and public policy expert George Weigel will be the main speaker at People for Life’s 35th Annual Pro-Life Breakfast on January 19, 2013.

    Mr. Weigel is a Distinguished Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC and one of America’s leading public intellectuals. He has been awarded fifteen honorary doctorates, the papal Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, and the Gloria Artis Gold Medal from the Republic of Poland.

    Mr. Weigel serves on the boards of directors of several organizations dedicated to human rights and the cause of religious freedom and is a member of the editorial board of the journal First Things. He is the author of more than 20 books, including The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without God; the highly acclaimed biography of the great defender of human life Pope John Paul II, Witness to Hope: The Biography of Pope John Paul II, (in-print in at least 13 languages); and The End and the Beginning, which covers the last years of John Paul's life and discusses his legacy.

    Mr. Weigel and his wife Joan have three children and one grandchild and live in North Bethesda, Maryland.
