Life Chain has become an annual national event. Among the over 700 Life Chains is the Greater Erie Life Chain, representing the Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango, and Warren County areas of Pennsylvania.

People of all ages and from all walks of life participate in Life Chain. They reflect a diversity of religious, political, and ideological viewpoints. The common thread that ties these people together is a realization that we as a society and as a nation are doing far too little to uphold the most basic of human rights, the right to life. People come to Life Chain to affirm the truth that all human lives, including the lives of unborn children, posses an intrinsic value and a sanctity which merit everyone's respect and society's protection.

Life Chain is an opportunity to peacefully assemble and publicly affirm the value of each individual human life. It is an opportunity, as well, to gather publicly in prayer in the best traditions of our history as a nation.

The Greater Erie Life Chain will extend along Peach Street from the vicinity of St. George Church north to the vicinity of West 38th Street, and west from the intersection of 38th and Peach along West 38th Street. There are no designated places to stand, but participants are asked to space themselves evenly, stretching out their ranks to avoid gaps in the chain.

Life Chain Information Centers will be located at the St. George Church parking lot, Peach & Miller, Peach & Marsh, West 38th & Liberty, and West 38th near the Faith Bible Book Store. Signs to hold during Life Chain may be obtained from the Information Centers for a donation of $1.00 per sign or $3.00 for an entire family.

The last 15 minutes of Life Chain are expressly reserved for silent prayer.

The Greater Erie Life Chain will take place on Sunday, October 5th between 2:30 and 4:00 PM.

The Greater Erie Life Chain is organized and conducted independently of People for Life, Inc. People for Life, however, is supportive of Life Chain's objective of preventing the destruction of innocent human lives by abortion.
